The Musical Theatre-Dance concentration within the BFA in Musical Theatre is designed to develop a strong foundation in the skills required for a career as a musical theatre performer, with particular emphasis on dance. The curriculum integrates intensive dance training with coursework in acting and voice, preparing students to work as versatile musical theatre artists.

Students receive comprehensive training in ballet, jazz, tap, and musical theatre dance, along with continued study in acting and vocal performance. Specialized coursework includes anatomy, kinesiology, and choreography, supporting both technical development and artistic expression.

Students in the Musical Theatre-Dance concentration may audition for all CCPA productions and will benefit from opportunities to engage with Chicago’s professional theatre community through the Conservatory’s network of working faculty and industry connections.

Admission Requirements

Students interested in the Musical Theatre-Dance concentration should possess a strong background in dance at an intermediate to advanced proficiency in ballet and jazz technique. Applicants should also indicate interest in developing skills in acting and vocal performance.

Residency Requirement

A student must earn at least 60 credit hours at Roosevelt University.

Grade Requirements

A student must earn at least C- in all Theatre Conservatory coursework and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all major subject area coursework, and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 across all core, elective, and general education courses.
