Roosevelt undergraduate students concerned about the time and cost of obtaining a graduate degree can reduce both by participating in a joint program. This program allows undergraduate students to start on their  MACM degree by taking graduate level courses during the completion of their undergraduate Criminal Justice BA.

Criminal Justice majors can participate in this accelerated program leading to a BA in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts degree in Conflict & Mediation. The program allows students to take three graduate-level courses as part of their undergraduate degrees. Once students are admitted to the MA, the courses will apply toward completion of the MA degree. The MA in Conflict & Mediation is a fully online program, which combines synchronous class sessions and simulations through Zoom with online asynchronous instruction.

This joint degree provides students knowledge and skills in both a specific occupational area and in conflict resolution management. Having the ability to de-escalate conflict and mediate disputes is of particular use for criminal justice professionals who are more likely than other professionals to encounter volatile situations on the job. Individuals with this unique combination of study and training will be better prepared for their work environment and will stand out from other candidates to potential employers.

• Major in Criminal Justice
• Completion of 60 credit hours of undergraduate course work
• Have and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0
• Obtain permission from the MA director to take the required MA courses
• Upon completion of the Criminal Justice BA, apply to the MACM program under the normal admission process

The student will take the following three Conflict & Mediation graduate courses as part of the Criminal Justice BA. All of the courses will receive credit toward the Master of Arts degree in Conflict & Mediation once the student is admitted to the MA program.
