University Writing Requirement
Fulfillment of the University Writing Requirement varies for each individual student and is dependent upon prior course work and test scores, either on the Roosevelt University Assessment or on SAT or ACT scores.
ENG 101 COMPOSITION I: CRITICAL READING & WRITING and ENG 102 COMPOSITION II: INTRODUCTION TO ACADEMIC RESEARCH, completed with a grade of C- or higher, will normally satisfy this requirement.
Learning Outcomes for the courses are as follows:
ENG 101 COMPOSITION I: CRITICAL READING & WRITING

Students will be able to write clear and organized prose.

Students will be able to apply peer review and/or instructor feedback to practice writing as a collaborative process.

Students will be able to implement revision strategies to improve writing drafts.

Students will be able to analyze information sources and practice communicating in academic contexts.

Students will be able to incorporate quotations, paraphrases, and summaries into their writing and document such material using discipline-appropriate citation methods
ENG 102 COMPOSITION II: INTRODUCTION TO ACADEMIC RESEARCH
- Students will be able to write clear and organized prose.
- Students will be able to apply peer review and/or instructor feedback to practice writing as a collaborative process.
- Students will be able to implement revision strategies to improve writing drafts.
- Students will be able to analyze information sources and practice communicating in academic contexts.
- Students will be able to incorporate quotations, paraphrases, and summaries into their writing and document such material using discipline-appropriate citation methods.
- Students will be able to apply library research strategies to effectively find and use resources in their writing assignments.
