The Social Justice Studies minor is an interdisciplinary minor that focuses on questions of social justice. Courses in this minor provide students with a foundational framework for examining social justice issues, political policies and processes that impact social justice, and avenues for organizing for social change within their chosen field or profession.

The Roosevelt University Vision is to prepare “students to become socially conscious [global] citizens [and community members] who are leaders in their professions and their communities.” The Minor in Social Justice Studies therefore complements any major a student might choose, enhancing their ability to identify and address social justice issues within their chosen field by providing background knowledge of social justice issues that are transferrable to any major or profession. 

While the Social Justice Studies minor is compatible with any major, it may of particular interest to students majoring in Criminal Justice, Economics, Education, Health Sciences Administration, Journalism and Media Studies, Nursing, Organizational Leadership, Political Science, and Sustainability Studies.

Requirements

• The minor in Social Justice Studies requires 18 credit hours
• At least 6 credit hours must be at the 300 level.
• A grade of C or higher is required for all courses in the minor with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
• At least 9 credit hours in the minor must be taken at Roosevelt.
