The Professional Diploma in Opera is a three-semester post-baccalaureate diploma that provides singers and pianists of exceptional career promise continued refinement of their artistic and musical skills.
Singers
Designed for the career-oriented opera singer, this intensive one-year program hones the skills necessary to succeed in auditions for elite young artist programs and professional opportunities in a variety of settings for the aspiring solo artist. Students participate in weekly lessons and vocal coachings with CCPA’s renowned voice and opera faculty, as well as a robust curriculum of dramatic vocal coachings and career-focused seminars, and industry-professional audition panels. With a focus on bridging the gap between training and the professional stage, this program provides tailored guidance for optimizing audition packages and prepares pre-professional singers to launch their careers with confidence.
Pianists
Designed for collaborative pianists aspiring to audition for young artist programs and/or professional opera companies, the program emphasizes the art of auditioning, regularly placing students in front of panels of industry professionals and offering personalized, constructive feedback to refine their audition presentation. The curriculum includes weekly collaborative piano lessons, conducting instruction, and career-focused seminars, providing the comprehensive training needed to excel as a collaborative pianist in the competitive world of opera.

Grade Requirements
- Applied Lessons: B- is the minimum passing grade for applied study (VOI 451 VOICE (DIPLOMA), VOI 452 VOICE (DIPLOMA LEVEL), VOI 453 VOICE (DIPLOMA LEVEL).
GPA Requirements
CCPA Graduate Degrees and Diplomas
The grades of A, A-, B+, B, and B- are the only grades that satisfy requirements for the master's degree or diploma in a student's major course sequence. Students who receive less than a B- in any component of the applied major study (lessons, jury, or recital) must repeat the entire course.
Up to two grades of C+ or C in courses outside the major, for a maximum of six credit hours, are acceptable for program requirements. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B) across all courses applied toward the degree or diploma.
Roosevelt University Graduate Degrees
No more than two grades lower than B- may be applied to master’s degrees. The grades of D+, D, D-, or F cannot be counted toward any graduate degree program. Additionally, graduate courses that are a part of a degree program may not be eligible for Pass/Fail grading.
