Music Education/Choral or Instrumental Concentration and Classical Guitar Performance, BM

Residency Requirement

A student must earn at least 60 credit hours at Roosevelt University.

Minimum Grade Requirements

Satisfactory completion of the music core is a requirement for licensure. The music core consists of the following required music courses: Applied Music 201-204 and 301-303 or 271-274 and 371-373 or 211-214 and 311-314 (including related jury exams and recitals); 6 semester hours of ensemble; two courses from among MUHL 210, MUHL 252, MUHL 253, and MUHL 351; MUSC 222ABC; and PERF 240. Any grade lower than C in any music core (or lower than B- in some applied music courses – see below), music education, or professional education course is considered a failing grade and will not fulfill degree requirements.

The minimum passing grade in GUIT 211, 212, and 213, PERF 261, and PERF 262 is C-. At the completion of the second year of applied study, a student must receive a minimum grade of B- in GUIT 214 and PERF 262 Sophomore Jury to be admitted to the upper division. The grade of B- is the minimum passing grade in upper division applied study (GUIT 311 through 314, PERF 361, PERF 313, PERF 362, and PERF 314).

Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 to remain in good standing and graduate.

All course requirements must be completed before the semester of student teaching.
