Roosevelt undergraduate students concerned about the time and cost of obtaining a graduate degree can reduce both by participating in a joint program. This program allows undergraduate students to start on their MPA degrees by taking graduate level courses during the completion of their undergraduate Criminal Justice BA. Classes are offered in Chicago and online.

Criminal Justice majors can participate in this accelerated program leading to a BA in Criminal Justice and a Master of Public Administration degree. The program allows students to take three graduate-level courses as part of their undergraduate degrees. Once students are admitted to the MPA, the courses will apply toward completion of the MPA degree.

This joint degree provides the student knowledge and skills in both a specific occupational area and public sector management processes. The government, a major employer of criminal justice majors, is the largest single employer in the Chicago metropolitan area. The joint Criminal Justice BA/MPA makes the graduate an attractive potential employee.

• Major in Criminal Justice
• Completion of 60 credit hours of undergraduate course work
• Have and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0
• Obtain permission from the MPA director to take the required MPA courses
• Upon completion of the Criminal Justice BA, apply to the MPA program under the normal admission process.

The student will take the following three MPA graduate courses as part of the Criminal Justice BA. All of the courses will receive credit toward the Master’s in Public Administration degree once the student is admitted to the MPA program.
