The Professional Diploma in Opera is two-year post-baccalaureate diploma that provides singers and pianists of exceptional career promise continued refinement of their artistic and musical skills. The program is intended for singers with a significant level of vocal training and potential, who seek a performance career, and pianists with a significant level of language competency and a significant background in classical vocal repertory.

In addition to curricular offerings, including weekly voice lessons (singers), piano lessons (pianists), vocal and dramatic coachings, and chosen electives, Professional Diploma students will have the opportunity to serve as stipended graduate assistants in areas consistent with their skills and interests (including appointments in choral, collaborative piano, opera, and theater).

Additional program components will include professional performance engagements with program affiliates and partners in and around the Chicago area, in a wide range of repertoire, including choral, art-song/recital, concert/symphonic, music theater, and opera. CCPA will work with program partners to offer workshops and masterclasses focused on audition preparation and other relevant professional development topics.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

A student must earn all credit hours toward this diploma at Roosevelt University.

MINIMUM GRADE REQUIREMENTS

B- is the minimum passing grade for all applied lessons (levels 451 - 454).
No juries or recitals are required.

A student must earn at least a GPA of 3.0 in all major subject area coursework.
