The Music Minor is open to undergraduate students in any undergraduate degree outside of CCPA as well as those in CCPA's BFA degrees. It is ideal for those students who wish to pursue musical studies to complement or enhance their major areas or build on their previous musical activities. The study of music develops the capacity to identify, integrate and apply materials, choices, and techniques to form new ideas and create new and unique work. Thus, it combines well with any humanistic field as well as technical or scientific disciplines. Musical knowledge and skills are also useful for students who intend to pursue a teaching career at the elementary, middle, or high school level.

The music minor includes performance studies and courses that explicitly tie to the University’s signal issue of social justice by treating music as a cultural force.

Six courses (18 credits) are required for the music minor. At least two of the courses must be taken at Roosevelt University. Minimum grades of C- are required to fulfill minor requirements and a minimum GPA of 2.0.
