A 17-credit-hour minor in Jazz and Contemporary Music is available to students pursuing the Bachelor of Music (in any field) or the Bachelor of Musical Arts degrees who have passed MUSC 122 with a C- (minimum). The goal of this minor is to allow a student to expand into the jazz and contemporary idiom from their major area of study.

Eight courses that provide 17 credit hours are required for the jazz minor. At least two of the courses must be taken at Roosevelt University. The completion of the following requirements with an average of C- or better fulfills the requirements for the minor.

Per University policy regarding Shared Coursework (see "Academic Definitions and Terminology" under the Academic Policies section of the Catalog), credits cannot be shared between a major and a minor. The following requirements must be completed in addition to all major requirements.
