A minor in Economics complements almost every major. At Roosevelt, Economics students explore the economy and how it works with a focus on issues of equality and equity as well as the more traditional emphasis on efficiency. Course offerings regularly include courses addressing the market economy, the business cycle, financial crises, economic policy, theories of justice, political economy, international trade and development, the economics of women, contemporary labor problems, money and banking, the history of economics, applied economics, and statistics/econometrics. A minor in economics can help students in starting almost any career path. Business students can minor in economics to follow career paths in government service, with non-profits, public service organizations or finance. Humanities students can minor in economics to follow career paths in banking, business, and finance, as well as in government service and with non-profits. Science students can minor in economics to follow career paths in public health, finance, and business. Economics minors are also eligible to enroll in an Internship in Economics to get a foot in the door to the world of work.
