The Multi-Skilled Healthcare Technician Associate Degree program is designed for individuals who wish to enter the healthcare field through a variety of career paths. This program provides an introduction to many healthcare environments and provides training in more than one healthcare skill in order to meet the ever-changing needs of the healthcare delivery system. Upon completion of this associate degree, students will have the skills needed to obtain employment in a variety of healthcare settings. Many of these healthcare areas have national certifications which students will earn through the program and coursework.

- Perform administrative and computer skills with medical records keeping and documentation essential for today’s healthcare worker.

- Perform proficiency in a variety of technical healthcare skills and assessment.
- Demonstrate communication, ethical knowledge, and professional behaviors required in healthcare.
- Prepare to become nationally credentialed healthcare practitioners.

Multi Skilled Program Admissions
Admission decisions are based on a review of each student’s academic record and professional experience. Each candidate is considered on an individual basis. In making admission decisions, the following materials are considered:
- High school diploma, GED score, military documentation or college coursework
- Work or community service experience
- Standardized examination results
- Demonstrated levels of achievement in particular courses
- Demonstration of character necessary for success in college
Multi Skilled students must maintain a cumulative C (2.0) grade point average at Roosevelt University. Students who do not achieve this level of academic progress will be dismissed from the program. A student may submit an application and appeal for re-admittance to the Multi Skilled Program one time; an appeal does not guarantee approval.
All nursing (NURS) courses carry weighted grades of which students must receive at least a 78% to pass with a C. There is no rounding of grades in any nursing course.
Professional behavior is expected of multi skilled students both on and off campus. Students will conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times; this includes theory, clinical and lab experiences. Students are responsible for all written/verbal information that is shared in scheduled classes, labs and clinicals. Students must sign and adhere to the policies and procedures in the Multi Skilled Student Handbook. Failure to sign or violate these can result in the student being dismissed from the program.
Students must complete all multi skilled courses within four consecutive calendar years and graduate, or must repeat the program in its entirety.
The multi skilled courses must be taken in the order prescribed in the curriculum plan.
Students must complete all standardized examinations administered during the program. Students are responsible for all testing fees.
Completion of all nursing course requirements (NURS) and allied health science (AHS) certification classes for the multi skilled degree must be accomplished at Roosevelt University. Under special circumstances, permission to take required courses elsewhere or to transfer a course in may only be granted by the Director of Nursing.
Transfer credit for AHS 127 and 128 (Body Systems I and II) must show at least a C grade was earned. AHS 127 and 128 do not count towards AHS 130 and 131 (Human Cadaver Anatomy & Physiology I and II) should a student go on to the BSN program in the future.
Prior to clinical experiences, students must be cleared for clinicals from the Multi Skilled Program Director. All students are placed at their clinical sites through Roosevelt University and students are expected to follow the policies and procedures set in place for this as outlined by each clinical site. Students are responsible for transportation to a variety of clinical site locations both in the city and suburbs of Chicago and must provide proof of health insurance.
Majors must complete all required courses with grades of C- or higher, with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher.
