College Counseling and Student Affairs, Certificate

This certificate program is designed to prepare students for career opportunities and advancement in higher education with particular emphasis on positions that serve university and community college students on urban campuses. Special attention is given to working with diverse student populations including returning, minority, and disabled students. The certificate program is designed for individuals who desire training for entry-level positions in advising and student affairs or those who have already experienced professionals in student affairs and wish to increase their knowledge and skills.
Applicants for admission to the program must have a cumulative undergraduate or graduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on official transcripts documenting the undergraduate degree and any graduate coursework or degree. A personal essay describing experiences and background in college counseling and/or student affairs is also required.
